The common maxim “unrecognized genius”
applies to a majority of groundbreaking inventors,
scientists, artists, and revolutionaries who are
unrecognized by their age but contribute extraordinarily
to human knowledge. Charles Robert Darwin, mastermind
behind the explosive theory of evolution and author of
On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural
Selection, is an evident example of an unrecognized
genius. His theory of evolution was met with strong
disagreement in his age but is now generally accepted in
modern science. However, Darwin’s biological theories
sparked world-wide debate both in his time and in the 21st
century which was met with diplomacy by Darwin and
evolutionists. Conflict with Darwin’s religion, the
scientific community, and his personal life forced
Darwin to employ diplomacy and compromise.
